This Person
By Sinjin Jones
It’s clogging my aortic vein
Clasping me in its infernal rain
I try to run, but I get not far
What with my heart mangled, bleeding and ajar.
This person smiles, or laughs or jokes
And on my heart I nearly choke.
The beating becomes faster and faster
I can’t help but fall into this pitted disaster.
It drives me insane knowing what this person can do
Unknowingly controlling my every single move
Diving ceaselessly into my brain
Destroying every thought I attempt to feign
When I breathe this person’s face comes to mind
Like some lost war hero long divined
Why must this plague torture my soul
Confining me into my own minds knoll
The secret is destroying me from the inside
The only thing to stop it is one final stride
I must relieve this internal blasphemous bard
This persons name is…
This is one of the three romance poems that I wrote this year. I tried to avoid the cliche's as best as possible but it is hard. It's a mildly dark outlook on the pain of a crush but also has a slightly happier tone because it is about love and is written in a nice rhyme scheme.
